Photostory Friday: Hoo Hoo

PhotoStory Friday
Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

HOO HOO

At home Peanut Butter doesn't really let me read to her so we go through books by pointing and "was that?" and if it has animals we do their sounds. In one of the books there is a scene with a wolf and we howl and it also has an owl and we say, "hoo hoo"
The other day when we went to the pumpkin farm. We came along a tepee with a little totem pole. A top the totem pole was a little owl and the first thing out of Peanut Butter's mouth was, "HOO HOO!!" She even put her hand up to her mouth to amplify the yelling. Something must be coming out of the semi reading sessions we have.

*Just a disclaimer I try to comment on everyone's blog that comments on mine, but I will be out of town for 2 days. I will try to catch up on Sunday.

Kids see and hear so much more than we realize.
It's scary, really.

Ditto to Chris.

They are now at the age where ANYTHING is game. I totally love that 'WAS DAT' comment, I can just hear it myself!

Enjoy the 2 days off.

Oh, how cute is she?

That's cute. Bianca doesn't have the attention span for books either so that's kind of what we do, unless Annika is listening, then she has to suffer through it!

Have a nice weekend! Enjoy your time away!

Sorry, the SLP in my kicked in on this one. Yes Yes Yes, any reading will influence language in that way. So glad you are noticing a difference. She associated what she knew from the book with that object. One idea for book reading is to find an object around the house related to that book and either let her hold it or pretend play with it as it relates to the story. Ex: If reading Goodnight Moon, she would have a bunny and maybe a brush and comb. Kids do develop their interests at different stages. Your example is one for the text books though!!!! Kudos to you for keeping at it!!!

She's adorable. It's nice to have moments like that to make us aware that the little things we are doing absolutely matter. :)
