PhotoStory Friday: Any Ideas

PhotoStory Friday
Hosted by Cecily and Carissa

This morning Peanut Butter asks if she can go swimming, which means she wants run around in her underwear like a crazy person. As I help her get her shirt off I see this:

She has scratched herself raw again. Yes again, she scratches herself raw at least once or twice a month. I am at my wits end on how to alleviate the itching. I have tried almost every cream under the sun. I have seen a dermatologist, who's famous last words were, "you have to live with it." I am going to try some primrose oil and go from there. If anyone has any other ideas let me know.

I can't remember if you have taken her to a chiropractor . . . I am wondering if there is some sort-of osteopathic manipulation that they could do (or some other sort-of voodoo.) I know HyphenMama has taken her daughter and had fantastic results, and I am seriously considering taking Cooper just to give it a shot (more for things beyond eczema, though he does have some of that as well.) You are dye-free also, right? Cooper's definitely flares with red dye (and possibly blue dye as well . . . I am trial-and-erroring it right now.)

I am so sorry she is so itchy!

Have you tried giving her a milk substitute for a while -- some are vanilla flavored so they taste pretty good. Milk allergies can cause this kind of problem. As Fishsticks and Fireflies also mentioned Red dyes often create many problems, too.

Oh --- the other thing that might be the culprit is laundry detergent. Have you tried a different one?

Poor thing! I have no suggestions (because I'm not sure what the history with her itching is...eczema? allergies?) but lots of hugs to you as you figure something out. That looks miserable!

I'm sure you've tried changing detergents, bath products etc... Conniecl might be on to something.
I gave one of my sons oatmeal baths for a while when he had some skin issues (and for the life of me, I can't remember which kid or what the problem was--aren't I tremendously helpful?).
I hope you get this resolved soon-- poor little thing, and poor you!

I wonder if it is a unconscious nervous thing. Like my boy always biting his nails. ??? I have no idea. I would maybe try Sarna lotion and see if that helps. ??? Good luck!

Oh gosh poor PB - how can she possible live with that! What a stupid doctor. I agree with the homeopath/naturopath idea?

Poor thing. I wish I had an idea for you! I have this weird problem that I've had since I was preggo with Bennett. My left shoulder itches on occasion, it's like an itch under my skin that I can't scratch. Haven't found a solution for that either! Let me know if you find anything! I'm thinking mine is hormonal though :) Annika gets like that too and the only thing that has really helped was a steriod and vaseline!
