Starting Anew

I didn't really make any New Year's resolutions, since I rarely follow through on that. Before the new year began, I decided I needed to make some changes. I have not been happy with my body image. I plateaued last year and then fell off the need to eat better wagon. I am again trying to make a conscious effort to watch what I am eating and I made the big leap of giving up Diet Coke. I love Diet Coke, love it, but studies have shown that diet sugar products actually can increase weight gain by making you want more sugar. I started to notice I really amped up the candy/cookie consumption with Diet Coke when I made an effort to pay attention to it. I had been steadily exercising for quite a while, but I was on a two week hiatus during the holidays and now need to get back on track. As much as I think the shred is an awesome workout, I don't think it is enough for me. I bought the Biggest Loser Last Chance Workout and so far enjoy that. I also went to the gym today to get back on the treadmill. I think I need more cardio. I am going to make a really effort to run more. I am going to try and incorporate more running intervals in my walking. I liked how it worked for me today. I am also considering doing a trainer session like Michelle did. I think it might be helpful. Hopefully by putting this in writing I can keep myself accountable.

Good for you. I think it's all about mind over matter! I find that when I drink any diet drink, no matter if it's soda or crystal light, my weight loss stalls. So, I've cut that out completely. Besides my coffee, all I really drink is water, lots of it! It's helped tremendously! Good luck, and I am all for that training session. It's such an eye opener!

Go, Momma! I think you are right about the soda and wish you luck in giving it up. You can do it! And remember that it is okay if you fall of the wagon once in awhile - just climb back on and vow to try again.

You are taking the right kind of steps to achieve what you want. Putting it in writing is always helpful, particularly sharing it with others also reinforces it. A trainer session makes a lot of sense to be sure you are doing the right kind of exercise for you. You go, Girl!!

Don't know if the type of sweetner makes any difference, but I find Coke Zero a good alternative to Diet Coke, when I crave the Coke thing and don't want the sugar.

Good luck! I'm SOOOOOOOO addicted to Diet Mountain Dew. I have at least 2 cans a day, sometimes more. I REALLY need to give it up. It's definitely coming up on the chopping block.

Good for you! I, too, am trying to get back on track. I've started working out. Now I gotta work on my horrible eating habits. Keep up the good work!

Good for you. I started my weight loss challenge two weeks ago and I am down 6 points. I work out at the gym because I for some reason HATE working out at home. I also like to bring Jake to the day care there. He loves the kids. I log my calories and have been blogging about it on my weight loss blog. It's been helping me a lot. Good luck girlie. check out my blog. http://kim-myweightlosschallenge.blogspot.com/
