PhotoStory Friday: I See You

One of the perils of bringing a toddler with you when you go to rummage sales is that they inevitably find some treasure that you do not want to pay for, but said toddler will not give up. You hem and haw, is three dollars worth the hassle of a melt down in some stranger's drive way. In this case it wasn't. Peanut Butter was not letting these "binoculars" go.

While I didn't want to fork over three measly dollars for them, she loves them. They even have a view-master feature in them that shows a show of wild animals which she thinks is pretty cool. She really likes to shove them in your face so you can see them too.

Peanut Butter GO TO BED

For the last few nights we have been battling Miss Peanut Butter with going to bed. She will sit on the potty, have her teeth brushed and have No More Monkeys Jumping on the Bed and the Hungry Caterpillar read to her. She will give the good night kisses and we will leave the room. Ten minutes later she is trying to sneak down the stairs with her hands over her face, because like that we can't see her. We put her back in bed and then back and forth it goes until we go to bed and she wants to play no more monkeys jumping in our bed. She then ends up in her room crying, but falls asleep. Last night J yelled at her to get back to bed and sometimes when he does this she will run back up and slam her door and go to bed. Last night she decided to go in our room turn on the tv and curl up on my side of the bed.

I guess I should be thankful she finally fell asleep and I just carried her to her bed, only to have her crawl back into ours in the middle of the night. See where she is sleeping now, well that is where she likes to sleep when she crawls in and that space between her and the edge of the bed. Yep, that is what I am left sleeping on.

Let's see how it goes tonight.

PhotoStory Friday: I'll Get You My Pretty

When I posted this photo in my Facebook album, I just liked the fact that Miss Peanut Butter was shoving a rock at me saying, "look Mama, ROCK!" One of my friends commented on the thing she loved about the photo was the girl trying to choke out the other on in the background. I didn't even notice it. It is a little funny because I'm on a mission to find out who the parents are of the girl in yellow. She is not the nicest of girls. I understand that play can be rough sometimes and Miss PB is a rough houser, but she is also only 2 and a half. The other night this girl was trying to smother PB into the ground, push her down the hill and who knows what else when I wasn't looking. She is at least 5. The best part of it after all the stuff I saw her do, she told me Miss PB pinched her as I was taking her out of the situation. I'm sure PB might have pinched her, but I was so hot at the time that I actually said to her, trying to not fly off the handle, "well, you are not so innocent yourself." Thinking a 5 year old is going to comprehend this, as I walked away she asked the other girls there what that means. Argh. J and I have always believed in teaching standing up for yourself, it somewhat worked with The Boy and PB isn't going to be any different, in fact I think she will do more than fine with it, she just hasn't figured out the girl is being mean to her. When she does, I'm sure she'll be saying, "I'll get you my pretty..."

Thoughts for Thursday: A Bigger Picture

On Real Time with Bill Maher in one of his last couple episodes he talked about what happened in the US that people aren't nice anymore. What changed? What led some people to prey on others in search of an even bigger profit. Why wasn't a healthy profit ok, why did it now have to be outrageous? Yes, the conversation was more about the economy than the state of people in general. After pondering this bit, I thought it was somewhat relevant to a wider scope. I don't know when it happened, but it seems like we don't have a real sense of community anymore. Growing up my parents had an pretty good idea of what we were up to just from other people. My parents didn't necessarily run in the same social circles as my friends parents, but they found out a lot of stuff. People just told other parents what their kids were up to because it was the nice thing to do. I'm sure my parents didn't want to hear about a party I had been at, but I'm sure they wanted to talk to me about it. We didn't have to be prisoners in our homes/yards in fear of the boogey man out there, because people cared and watched out/checked on what was going on. It seems to me people have become fearful of each other, making sure nobody screws them over. No body seems to care about the Big Picture of what happens. Have we all turned a blind eye to what goes on around us? Is there something that make us think that for some reason certain things won't affect them? Sometimes in the big picure the little things that we never think will affect us send out ripples that can turn into tidal waves.
Yes, a bit rambley, but... maybe I need a writing class.

Baseball

I even made it down to the boy's game and spent more time chasing PB than watching. PB was playing around with some older kids and one of them started to get really rough with her. I went over to get her out of the situation and the little brat has the audacity to tell me the PB pinched her. I said like you are so innocent. I should have worded it differently since I don't think a 4-5 year old understood and she asked the other girls what that meant.

Today at work one of my coworkers asked if Peanut Butter was picking all of my flowers and I said. "No, I don't have any up." He said, "You don't have any?" I said no and wondered what he was getting at. I said, "Wait, I do have lilies, but they aren't even close to blooming." He shook his head, and said, "No, those flowers," as he pointed out the window at the field of dandelions. Duh, but again I said no, we don't have very many in our yard.

Well tonight at her brother's baseball game she found the dandelions.

She also for some strange reason had to carry a blankie around this evening, she has never had a "lovey" per se. At least she found a stick to even things out.

Hopefully, her brother doesn't have to many games at this field because I didn't see much of the game.

When you see this:

Do this:

J had a little fun with Miss Peanut Butter this past weekend. She got sprayed a couple times, it was quite comical, she did learn that as soon as Daddy picks up the hose to get out of range. Daddy thinks it is funny when he "happens" to spray us. It is even less funny when he tries to play it off as an accident.

The End of Another Weekend

It figures as soon as I get all of the girl's winter items together to put them in the laundry, she rummages through them. She must have had 3 different hats on at some point this afternoon and gloves and mittens galore. She also napped 2 out of the 4 days I was off, it was so nice. Tonight she fell asleep around 6 and I decided I'd try and get her to bed for the night. I changed her and put her in her bed. Hopefully she stays asleep. She has been sleeping in her bed like a trooper too, that is until last night. She came into our bed in the middle of the night and then woke me up by throwing up in the bed. Ugh. Then she was up at the crack of dawn only wanting Mama, even though Daddy was up.
We did storytime at the library today for the first time. Peanut Butter was all over the place. I felt a little bad since all the other kids were sitting so nice. I think we did about 50 puzzles after that. I was in such a hurry to make it to storytime that I forgot to take all of our items back. J was nice enough to drop them off on his way to work. We then ventured to the grocery store where Miss PB was all over the place. One woman said, "She's a handfull isn't she?" Um, yeah. As she's running down the aisle licking an apple she just grabbed. I guess we're buying that.

PhotoStory Friday: Let the Rummaging Begin

Yes, that time of the year is here again. People are selling their no longer needed items, and while I don't necessarily need most of them either, it makes it much easier to spoil Miss Peanut Butter. She has been begging for a scooter or bike when ever we are in wally world. I found this gem this morning and made her day. I just love when she gets that look on her face. It even has the double wheels in back so it somewhat stands up and is much easier for a toddler to ride or stand on as PB does. The fact that it is a princess one is even better. I might go back for a 2 wheeler bike, but I'd have to get training wheels for that one, but 10 dollars vs. 50 dollars may be worth it in the long run.
